Attendance
We believe it is vitally important that the children attend school every day to allow them to benefit from the rich curriculum that is offered.
Parents have a responsibility to ensure that their children receive full time education.
Regular attendance and punctuality are essential if children are to succeed in their education and reach their full potential.
Failure to attend school results in missed opportunities, disrupts a child’s education and impacts on his/her long term attainment and life chances. Beverley St Nicholas Community Primary School works closely with parents on all matters relating to attendance. Further support is provided by our School Business Manager.
We expect that parents ensure that their child attends school on time every day and that holidays in term time are avoided. It is crucial that your child is punctual. Persistent lateness is detrimental to their progress and disrupts the start of the day for the class.
Reporting your child’s absence
If your child is away from school for any reason, please telephone the school as soon as possible. Any absence not explained is recorded as ‘unauthorised’. Parents/Carers can leave a voicemail on the absence line during non office hours
Registers are completed as soon as the children come into school and any child not present when the register is returned to the school office will be marked absent.
If children arrive late they need to go to the school office to let the office staff know they have arrived. Their absent mark will then be changed to a late mark.
