Pupil Parliament

At Beverley St Nicholas Primary School we have a Pupil Parliament.

All year sixes are given the opportunity to apply for the role of Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister or other ministerial roles: Fundraising Minister, Media Minister, Sports Minister or Eco Minister.

Chloe is our current Pupil Prime Minister.

Potential candidates are then interviewed, and the top candidates then go on to campaign to the school. The campaigns involve speaking in a whole school assembly, creating posters and running activities.

After a week of campaigns, all pupils across the school vote, and the winning candidates make up the Pupil Parliament. All classes also elect their own MPs to attend Parliament meetings to give their ideas.

Comic Relief - Friday 20th March 2026

 

We raised £200 for Comic Relief by bringing in spare coins and placing them around the running track.

Updating the lunch menu (Summer 2026)

With help from Sally in the kitchen, the Pupil Parliament has put another option on the Friday lunch menu! As well as the fish and chips options, pupils who are hot dinner can now choose to have a jacket potato instead.

Children in Need - Friday 14th November 2026

We raised £200 for Children in Need by raffling off our giant Pudsey teddy! Tickets were 50p each, so we sold 400 tickets, which is fantastic! Well done to Evie-Jay who won the fabulous prize

Swap Shop - Autumn 2025

We were excited to find out about our new school Swap Shop where we can spend our dojos that we earn for showing the school values. We discussed what we might like there, and decided upon a wide range of things, such as fidget toys, stationary, Nurf guns and free tuck vouchers.

Dress Funny for Money

On Friday March 17th the Pupil Parliament organised a ‘Dress Funny for money’ day to raise money for Comic Relief. They raised £145 in school, with more donated online.

World Book Day Pen pals

For World Book Day 2023, the Pupil Parliament organised for years 1, 2 and 6 to share a reading session together. They enjoyed sharing books, and wrote letters to each other to help the younger pupils get to know the year 6s. Books are a fantastic way for the pupils to learn together!

Easter Egg Decorating Competition and Tombola

This term the Pupil Parliament have begun to work closely with the Friends of the School to help create even more fun events! The Friends of the School organised an egg decorating competition for Easter, and the Pupil Parliament helped them to raise money at this event by running the Tombola. Together the Pupil Parliament and Friends of the School raised enough money to go towards fun activities for the year 6 leavers party later this year.
