History Curriculum Intent
It is our intent at Beverley St Nicholas Primary to deliver a history curriculum which is accessible to all and that will maximise the outcomes for every child so that they know more, remember more and understand more.
As a result of this they will increase and develop their historical skills, concepts, knowledge and attitudes. The children should develop a sense of identity through learning about the past. As pupils progress, they will increase their understanding of the present in the context of the past. As a result of the teaching and learning that takes place, we want the children to be able to talk confidently about the features of a range of civilisations.
As our children move through the school, they will develop an interest in the past, arousing their curiosity and motivation to learn. Teaching will develop and enable children to use their skills in enquiry, analysis, evaluation, and argument.
